Hi everyone, I'm new to the community. :)
I'm re-painting my bedroom soon, and I wanted to know if anybody had any neat wall ideas. I'm pretty girly, so for colors I was thinking of either a pink with white or sky blue with white. I don't want just a solid colored wall, and I'm looking for something different (stripes, polka dots, and so on) but I'm not a big fan of wall decals. Please help me out? :)
Thanks everyone,
Melissa

Cheapish Veterinary Care?
my kitty had an accident with the kitchen counter top when he got scared, and his lip became detached from his gums... I thought i should leave it alone, but now he keeps shivering and is sleeping A LOT more than usual. He still eats, so it cant be too bad, but it LOOKS horrible.
Please keep in mind that i am located in Lakeview, 3 blocks from Wrigley. and do not have a vehicle, so the less i have to pay for a cab ride the better... OR, if you could give me advice on how to treat him or think i should just leave it alone...

Hi everyone! I'm Emily from Portland, OR.
I just recently completed (okay, I'm still not done - but I'm working on it!) my room redecoration project, and I promise I'll post pics. My room redo has inspired me to start on my bathroom. My problem isn't a lack of space, but rather very deep cabinets/drawers and a lot of counter space.
Does anybody have any suggustions for my organization problem? I have a lot of stuff I need to hide under my counter, but I don't know how to hide things without just cramming.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi. I'm mostly a lurker, only posted once before, but now I have a new problem. My boyfriend and I are moving from a 1500 square foot apartment to a 900 square foot. We are losing quite a bit of space, as you can see. Most of the space will be disappearing because (1) the living room will be much smaller, (2) right now we have two full baths; in the other apartment, it will be one and a half baths, (3) we are losing our nice sized laundry room, but not the washer and dryer (they'll be in a nice little closet thing in the kitchen) and (4) we will lose our pantry.
Most of our stuff is being whittled down (half of our stuff is old broken things and paper; we're packrats) so we don't have a huge issue with storage in most of the new place. Except for the pantry. Our current pantry is full of stuff. We won't be gaining very much more cabinet space or counter space. So, any ideas on how to store food stuffs that won't fit in a cabinet and that we don't use often?

How do you guys organize your paperwork/bills/etc.? I'm trying to figure out a way to organize my monthly expenses (bills, receipts, paystubs), but it's pretty frustrating. The only thing I could think of was to buy something like this, but that's not too appealing to me. Any ideas? Oh, and a filing cabinet would be too much for me. I get, like, four bills and two paychecks a month, a filing cabinet would be unnecessary.
So, I've been waiting pretty much forever to be able to make a post here. Now I'm FINALLY done with my massive, 2-month-long nightmare move, and I'm ready to show my place off! I live in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment with my boyfriend and another roommate.
Today I'm just gonna show you my bedroom and bathroom, though. It's my favorite part of the apartment, so I have a lot of pictures!
Many people like soft, soothing colors for bedrooms. I'll warn you now - I'm not one of those people.

Come on in!
( My bold, bright, beautiful bedroom! )
Finally, I'll give you a sneak peek of bits of the rest of my apartment, which I should be posting within the next week or so - don't worry, there won't be NEARLY as many pictures of other rooms as there are of my room, hahaha!
( SPECIAL SNEAK PREVIEW, lol )
Sorry for the massive amount of pictures, but for the first time in my life I'm incredibly happy with my space, and ya'all are the only people who will really appreciate it, hahaha!

Yet another long-time lurker, first time poster here. Like many of you, I suffer from a small kitchen. I have plans to purge and reorganize in order to make better use of the space, but I figured I'd post here beforehand just for fun and in case anyone has ideas that I may have missed.
My boyfriend and I are from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and have been in our first place for just over a year; one of two apartments in a house that's probably a few hundred years old. From the outside it looks like the typical duplex with two apartments side-by-side, but it's actually split up by floor. We have the upstairs, so our kitchen was actually a bedroom at one point.

Hi everyone! I need some advice as to how to keep my apartment neat and organized since I'll be starting school soon in Redmond, WA.
I'm an art student, and as some of you will know, we art college students have TONS of stuff. I will be living in a one-bedroom apartment which also consists of a living room, kitchen and bathroom and it comes unfurnished. So, I will be buying most of my stuff from IKEA and will appreciate storage recommendations. Photos would be great too! Right now my priorities are:
Must buy asap:
Single-sized bed (more room for other things!)
Desk (Either one or two. I will have a computer desktop and I'm afraid that only one desk may not leave room to do my fine art stuff. What do you guys think?)
I will then need to buy furniture or stuff to store my multitude of different art materials. :( Any artists here that can help me with some ideas?
Thanks in advance!
P.S
Any idea where I can find desks that can tilt for fineart work?
EDIT:
THANK YOU everyone for their precious advice so far, you've all been really helpful! :)
I found this drafting table on craigslist that is kinda pricey but was the closest to where I'll be living. (I just moved into the area so...)
http://www.draftingtable-store.com/p/may line-futur-matic-t-c-drive-system-drawin g-table
The owner is asking for $595 (which is actually way more than I'm willing to pay for a drafting table at this moment...) but she has shown me owner photos and it does seem in good condition. She wishes to be paid in cash.
I guess that'd be a last resort, unless I find a cheaper alternative in the Redmond, WA area. What do you guys think?

Watson has set me up with temporary lodgings in the vocal booth of his studio. this may sound preposterous and reminiscent of that episode of Flight of the Conchords where Jemaine "moves into his own place," but when you consider the studio is a generous professional suite and the vocal booth was the manager's office it is actually pretty sweet. in fact, it's only slightly smaller than my own bedroom and i even have the mac and its hard drives set up in it!
there are only bathroom facilities here so i drove up the road to a Petro "stopping plaza" and rented a shower for ten bucks today. i will probably do that every day i'm here.
tonight we ate at Piccadilly Cafeteria. it was a very similar vibe to Bishop's with a different pricing structure and more of a southern angle to the food. the carrot souffle was pretty dope ... as were the chicken fried chicken, turnip greens, corn stick (a cross between a breadstick and corn bread) and chocolate pecan pie. i will probably be hitting that again while i am here as it is _literally_ across the street from Hard Orange Studio in Bristol Mall.
tomorrow our priorities are visiting a liqour store franchise chain called "Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control" and also setting up 4 different TB-303 clones from 3 different manufacturers and then recording the mess to just totally rip the synth blogosphere a new one. maybe we'll make it to Ridgewood Barbecue as well.

SOOOOOO
the girl who lived in my room before me had left her furnature, she was low on cash and wanted me to buy it. I was lower on cash and couldn't... My friend gave me a desk and a dresser bc he's moving out of the country but I'm still left w/o a bed.
My room is a decent size considering the apartment overall is pretty small, it has good light and I feel like it would be more welcoming as a hang out area and give me even more room if I had a Futon. Also, the boyfriend and I are planning on moving in together when our seperate leases are up in the spring so it would make more sense to get that so we have furnature we can use instead of 2 beds.
The problem is I'm pretty low on cash, but I still want something nice and am not really willing to look on craigs list because it would be nice to have something new to sleep on for the first time in about 8 years. The most I would be able to spend is 200 but i'm looking for something closer to 150. I know i'm not going to get any beautiful artful piece of brand new furniture for this price but I would like something fun/cool/trendy if at all possible. I'm wondering if you could point me anywhere other than the obvious kmart, target etc websites?

I just moved into my new place.
I wanted the over all theme of the room to match this bed set:
( More info under the cut! )

Ok, so I know this isn't really related but I have a question. As per the pictures under the cut below, the shower in my apartment has gotten pretty out of control. I use a spray cleaner after every shower but in this one particular corner, mold has made a nice little home. It's really gross and it creeps me out and the bathroom cleaner (Arm & Hammer Oxy something or other) has not been able to conquer it.
I was wondering if anyone has any at home concoctions I can try or
if you've battled this problem before, what got rid of it for you?
Thanks guys!
( its really not pretty )

Hi all,
I'd like to thank everyone for such rapid and helpful responses to my recent post. I'm going to starch fabric on to my walls.
Now that my decorating scheme is saved, I'd like to ask for your advice on rugs.
I need a neutral rug with red and/or orange accents that will offset the intensity of a red wall. I need the rug to be under 200 including shipping. I'm looking for something with clean lines so go with my contemporary theme. Something like this, this, or this.
Thank you!
